Moon River Music Festival Preparations

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)- “It’s a huge boost for Chattanooga economy,” said Jonathan Susman.

A lot of work goes into setting up the Moon River Music Festival.

“They do an incredible amount of work. Somebody told me today they have something like 300 workers that are involved in putting this festival together. Their attention to safety has been such a key element having this event back in town. They’ve already proven this model works in other cities they do a fantastic job with their festivals,” said Susman.

The gates open at noon and the first concert starts at 1 and there will be plenty of music after a year away.

“In general, I think it’s a great opportunity for everybody to get out and enjoy some live music again because I know a lot of us have missed that for a long time,” said Susman.

With the music festival being back this year he says expectations are it will bring in nearly 3 millions dollars to the city.

“All the great North Shore margins that we enjoy your round, we’re excited for attendees coming to the festival to be able to experience these great local merchants that we have as well as inviting our locals who may not be coming to the festival but they can still come down and enjoy food and retail and things like that from our vendors in the North Shore area,” said Susman.

This money will also help aid those who work in the music industry who have been out of work for most of the past year and a half.

“It’s not just these musicians but you have all the contractors out here building the festival, that worked for Festival, the vendors that have been at a job for so long and a lot of those are local people too. Their local Chattanooga that they hire and bring in for this festival,” said Susman.
