More To The Story: Net Resource Foundation is expanding feeding program

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Net Resource Foundation’s feeding program was started back in 2015. Relying heavily on donations and volunteers.

Now, the feeding program is expanding. Launching a campaign called “Giving Tuesday.”

The end result will be the food pantry at Westside Church opening three days a week, instead of just one. With better accessibility for those in need.

Executive Director Raquetta Dotley says the need is as great now as ever before.

“Just this year, we distributed over 17,000 pounds of food. To over 25-hundred people. So the need is there. Remember, it’s open to everybody. You don’t need to fill out a lot of paperwork. You can get what you need in a friendly environment. And you can be confident in the services we provide.”

The organization, which works closely with the area food bank, will continue to provide food such as flour, canned goods and a few sweets.
But instead of serving up to 75 people a week, the hope is to at least double that with the new arrangement.

“Changes are being made here. A reshuffling of the plan, if you will. But the changes are being made for one reason only: people.”

“We have a great group of volunteers. They are mostly seniors. They say that people are always saying how grateful they are for the services we provide in such a great environment.”

The food pantry is not open now. The hope is to start up again, three days a week, in the springtime.
