Mt. Pleasant High School vs. South Pittsburg High School

South Pittsburg, TN (WDEF) – South Pittsburg entertained Mount Pleasant in the first round of the 1A state playoffs and showed the traveling Tigers very little hospitality.

The Pirates wasted no time getting things going on the ground as this big run by Chase Blevins sets up the Sawyer Kelley TD just a few plays later.

It’s 7-0 South Pittsburg early, and it would keep getting worse for the Tigers.

After forcing a Mt. Pleasant punt, Sawyer Kelley capitalizes from just outside the end zone to put the Pirates up 14-0.

Fast forward to just before the end of the first quarter, and the Tigers are marching, reeling off a big gain on the ground with running back Jykedrin Warnsley.

But it would not be enough as the Pirate defense forces a four-and-out as Mt. Pleasant QB Walter Crawford fails to connect with the wide open reciver in the end zone.

The Pirates would capitalize with Joseph Lilly’s shake and bake run, elluding the defender on his way to the end zone for South Pittsburg’s third score of the night.

The Pirates would roll in this one and go on to blow-out the Tigers 56-18.
