NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Nashville police officer has been shot in the shoulder.
It happened Tuesday morning while the officer was serving a warrant.
The officer was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police say the suspect is now barricaded in a motel room in East Nashville.

This morning’s shooting follows a grim pattern for police officers in the south.
Over the last six days, six law enforcement officers have been shot in Georgia, each in pairs.
AMERICUS, GA (Wednesday)
Two officers were shot while responding to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in Americus, Georgia, which is 140 miles southwest of Atlanta.
Both officers died from their injuries.
The suspect had a violent, criminal history.
After a manhunt cornered him, Minguell Lembrick took his own life.
BYRON, GA (Monday)
Early Monday morning, two more officers were shot in Byron, Georgia which is only about 50 miles northeast of Americus.
This time, the officers were part of a task force serving a search warrant in a drug investigation.
According to the GBI, the officers knocked and announced 3 times before entering a home.
As soon as they entered, the occupant opened fire.
One officer is in serious condition, the other was treated and released.
Officers returned fire and killed the suspect.
LAVONIA, GEORGIA (Monday)

On Monday evening, another pair of police officers were shot on the job, this time in Lavonia near the South Carolina border.
They had pulled over a stolen vehicle in a Zaxby’s parking lot.
As they tried to arrest the driver, he shot them.
One officer was hit in the shoulder, the other in the hand and leg.
Neither injury is considered life-threatening.
The suspect escaped the scene, but was captured later Monday night.
