Nashville police say they were lured to home to be shot
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A police officer in Nashville was shot Tuesday night in a call that officials say was a “setup.”
A Metro Nashville Police spokesman says they got a call from someone saying that his brother had shot his mother.
But when three officers approached the door of the home, they were greeted with gunfire.
Officer Brian Sherman was hit in his left arm and is being treated at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Police officials say the officers tried to negotiate with the shooter.
But 22 year old Salman Mohamed came outside and shot himself in the head in the driveway.
The suspect is dead.
Police say no officers ever fired shots themselves.
When they finally entered the home, they found the mother and other family members all unharmed.
