Nashville woman charged in 11-month-old son’s death

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Tennessee woman faces multiple charges in connection with the death of her 11-month-old son.

News outlets report 28-year-old Ashley Lenal Crowder was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect related to the July 28 death of Roger Kenneth Harris.

Metro Nashville police say Crowder brought Harris to Centennial Medical Center on July 28 after he had stopped breathing and became unresponsive.

She had said he’d been suffering from unusual symptoms for several days.

An investigation revealed Harris suffered from “abdominal catastrophe” and other internal and external injuries.

Police haven’t specified what they believe Crowder’s role was in causing the medical problem.

She’s being held on $200,000 bond. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
