Nearly 100 new citizens naturalized during downtown ceremony Wednesday afternoon

Wednesday, nearly 100 immigrants entered the Joel W. Solomon Federal Building on Georgia Avenue and left as U.S. Citizens

There were two ceremonies held today. During the afternoon ceremony there were 50 individuals present to take their Oath of Allegiance.

Of those new citizen there were 30 different nationalities represented, including Sudan, Russia, and Ireland.

To become a citizen through naturalization one must be able to read, write, and speak basic English, demonstrate good moral character and possess a knowledge of U.S. history and government.
