New App for Georgia at-risk adults

Decatur, GA (WDEF) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces a new app to help provide assistance to at-risk adults.

It’s called the GANE app; Georgia Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation App.

It was developed through a collaboration between the Georgia Dept. of Human Services Division of Aging Services, the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and the GBI.

Officials say situations often happen when at-risk adults appear to be abused, neglected, or exploited, but the public and law enforcement don’t know what to do.

This app provides quick access to reporting and resource agencies, applicable laws related to crimes against elder & disabled persons, a link to report missing adults, screening tools to assess abuse & neglect, and a host of other valuable resources.

The app has two components; one for the public and one for law enforcement which requires an activation code to access the special features.

The app is free and available on Apple, Android, and Windows mobile devices.
