New booster available for ages 5-11 beginning Thursday

Vaccines at Hamilton Co. Health Department locations

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Health Department will begin offering the Pfizer Bivalent Booster shots to children ages 5-11 beginning Thursday.

No appointment necessary.

You are eligible for the booster two months after your last shot.

The locations are the health centers at 3rd Street in Chattanooga, Birchwood Health Center, Sequoyah Health Center, and Ooltewah Health Center.

A child must come with a parent or legal guardian, with a photo ID and proof of guardianship.

“With children back in school and the winter months ahead of us, there is the potential for increased risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. This updated booster remains the most effective tool to prevent severe illness. We encourage parents to talk with their child’s pediatrician about the vaccine and bivalent booster,” says Dr. Stephen Miller, Hamilton County Health Department’s Health Officer.
