New charges against firefighter charged with robbing store after finishing his shift

HIXSON (WDEF) – New charges filed against a Chattanooga firefighter may explain the bizarre case of a convenience store robbery.

Steven Ratledge was arrested after wrecking his car.

Police say he was fleeing a store he had just robbed.

The clerk says Ratledge held him up with a pocketknife.

The investigating officer says a surveillance camera caught him entering the store in his fire clothing, then going back out to his car, changing, and coming back in for the holdup.

And he had just gotten off his shift working at the nearby firehall.

Now police have added charges of DUI, driving on a revoked license, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
