New Credit Union facade was 3D printed
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union is building its 20th branch in South Chattanooga.
The exterior of the building is one of the first in the world to be 3-D printed.
T-V-F-C-U partnered with Construction Consultants and 3-D printer Branch Technology for the project, which took a couple of years to design and create.
“When we acquired this property on the Southside, it was an amazing fit for what Platt and them do. You can see that the façade of the building is very unique, very innovative and very much fits in with the community here on the Southside. It’s going to be a great addition over here to the Southside and we are pleased to be able to offer one of the first in the world 3D printed facades on the exterior of one of our branches.”
The construction consists of webbing which is 3-D printed.
It’s then filled with foam and coated with concrete.
