New Development Changes Coming to East Ridge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- East Ridge is welcoming a new construction project that is sure to boost tourism and economic spending.

City officials say the old building just across from Camp Jordan Parkway will be torn down, and in its place? Well you can expect more than a few things in upcoming years.

The city of East Ridge is getting a brand new addition.

“Vision Hospitality Group will be constructing a new Hampton Inn, there just across Camp Jordan Parkway, from where Bass Pro is.”

East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert says the project could take up to a year or more to complete, but the target open date isn’t until 2018.

“It’s further evidence that we’re moving in the right direction. Economically, we’re seeing a lot of construction in particular in that area, and I believe ultimately we’ll see it up and down Ringgold Rd. So we’re gonna see a lot of positive changes coming.”

Unfortunately East Ridge struggles with several flood areas, but officials have confirmed that the land where the construction will take place is well above the flood zone.

“So it really should not impact local residents. In fact, I live in that area myself, so I’m not looking  for any changes in what the flood waters might be.”

Mayor Brent Lambert says the Hampton Inn is just one of many new projects that developers are planning to help bring life to that area.

“Ultimately I believe the developers have in mind a couple hundred thousand additional square feet of retail space, and that would include retail shops clothiers, restaurants, various things that will go in the overall complex.”

Mayor Lambert also told me residents can expect the Camp Jordan area to look a lot different in just a few years.
