New Features at Riverbend

Riverbend kicks off for the 34th time Friday and representatives couldn’t be more excited. Chip Baker, Friends of the Festival Executive Director said, "It’s going to be a great time."

Friends of the Festival took WDEF News 12 on a trolley ride down Riverfront Parkway and highlighted some of the new features. Baker said, "This year we have a whole new stage. The Chevy Corral. And that’s going to be unique. It’s going to be more like a club. A lot of local entertainment with some national acts too." Dixie Fuller, Production Manager said, "It’s a really cool stage. We have done some accent lighting in there, so it’s kind of a western feel. Its got wagon wheel lamps and some Jack Daniels barrels to stand and snack and have a drink."

Newer options for families will also be available including a 18-hole mini golf course. Baker said, "We always try to do things for the kids that are fun and different, as we like to support the local business people, so we think it will be a fun thing for families." And of course the biggest highlight is two performers each night on the Coke stage. Baker said, "We are proud of that. The first featured act at 6:30 is what we used to have as the main act in previous years, so we think that will be exciting for people to come and see."

And don’t forget about WDEF News 12’s Riverbend Beach. We will be going live from there each night!
