New restaurant coming to the Southside
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The people behind Stir restaurant at the Choo Choo are starting another venture on Main Street.
And they are taking inspiration from the old.
They are naming the new restaurant State of Confusion, as a nod to the building they are replacing, Estate of Confusion, which was a junkyard of curios on the Southside.
The menu features a fusion of Latin American, New Orleans and low-country food.
They promise ceviche, muffuletta, agua frescas, and wood-fre grilled meats and vegetables.
As you can see from the construction, the small entrance will open to an outdoor patio, which will be flanked by bars on either side.
State of Confusion will be able to seat about 330 guests.
You will be able to choose between several seating areas, including picnic tables by the grill, dining along Passenger Street or lounging in a garden.
“State of Confusion is all about levity and fun with the highest quality, authentic food and a fusion of flavors and dishes that you can’t get anywhere else,” said Allen Corey, CEO of Square One Holdings.
“We traveled to Peru – the birthplace of ceviche – to understand ceviche, to New Orleans to craft the best muffuletta bread and bologna and up and down the East Coast to curate the best seafood boils.”
They will have on-site parking for dining in or carrying out.
And they have big plans for weekend brunch.
The agua frescas will turn into mimosas, served with breakfast strata, South American egg dishes and recipes using ancient grains and fruit.
“Brunch at Stir is a staple for many Chattanoogans and visitors to our city, and State of Confusion is going to take that to a whole new level,” said Corey.
“Confusion brunch will be a casual, fun setting and include authentic food, great drinks and an eclectic breakfast bar with influences of South America and low country. We hope guests will want to lounge for hours on our laid-back, outdoor patio.”
State of Confusion is set to open in August and is hiring now. Interested applicants should apply online at www.soconfusion.com.
