New Soddy Daisy Coach Carter Cardwell Looking For “Contact and Conflict”

Soddy Daisy, TN-(WDEF-TV) Our 30-in-30 spotlight shines on Soddy Daisy. Trojans feature a new head coach this season in Carter Cardwell.

For a new head coach. Never hurts to take over a team with a big roster.
Said Cardwell:”We are fortunate this year. Our number are up. We’re at the 80 number, which is good. We’ve got a good senior class. They’re solid. There’s 15 of them, but they’re nine of them that have been here the whole time.”
After two straight losing seasons, what will it take for Cardwell to forge a winner.
Said Cardwell:”Football is based on two things. Contact and conflict. I said I want both of those things to progress every day.”
Trojans have the luxury of a returning senior quarterback in Slater Hickman.
Said tight end Dakota Clayton:”He’s comfortable in the pocket, but I wouldn’t sleep on him running the ball now. If the pocket collapses and he needs to move his feet then he will.”
Said

Hickman:”Our offense is definitely going to be a lot more balanced this year, so I think we’ll be a lot more consistent.”
Soddy Daisy should enjoy consistently in the trenches.
Said Cardwell:”We are actually better at line now because of what happened last year with contact tracing and COVID and all that. We were forced to use people probably sooner than we needed. That happened in the line.”
Clayton:”I say we have pretty good potential because this year we are coming with a little bit more size on the O-line and D-Line for sure.”
More size up front coupled with an experienced quarterback.
That makes a head coach smile.
Said Cardwell:”I like the team we have. I really do. I like the team we have. I like the type guys they are.”
