Nightfall kicks off its 29th season next week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The free Nightfall Concert Series opens its 29th season on Friday, May 6 at Miller Plaza.

Seattle-based funk band Polyrhythmics headlines with local opening act Opposite Box.

Nightfall will feature a diverse schedule of quality musical entertainment each Friday night through August 26th.

New this year, Nightfall partners with the Bessie Smith Cultural Center on the first Friday of each month to “Rock the Block” at Nightfall with a block party atmosphere with an early start time and an extended street closure that connects the two entertainment venues.

Beginning at 5pm on the lawn of the BSCC, enjoy local music by DJ Fred Watson, Jiana Barnett and Jimmy Allgood, vendors and kids activities until 7pm, then walk the block to Miller Plaza for the usual Nightfall schedule from 7pm-9:30pm.

This Friday, a variety of vintage and antique motorcycles from riding groups such as Motovalley, Smoky Mountain AMCA and Chattanooga Motorcycle Collective will be on display on M.L.King between Georgia Avenue and Lindsey Street.

The Rock the Block street entertainment will vary on the remaining dates of June 3, July 1 and August 5 – each celebrating music and collaboration in our community.
