North Georgia schools sweep GHSA softball state championships

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WDEF) — Heritage, Ringgold and Gordon Lee make it two straight years of sweeping softball state championships down in Columbus, Georgia.

Heritage needed to beat Central-Carrollton in two straight games to get out of the loser’s bracket and into the winner’s circle. Generals did so, winning the first game 3-2 and the second 4-0. Pitcher Rachel Gibson struck out the final batter in the second game to get the Generals the three-peat state championship.

Ringgold defeated Rockmart in extra innings for its second straight title, 7-6.
