NTSB Go Team en route to Chattanooga bus crash scene
WASHINGTON D.C. (WDEF) – The National Transportation Safety Board’s Go Team left Reagan International
Airport Tuesday morning for Chattanooga.
Chairman Christopher Hart expressed his sympathies for the victim’s parents, saying he has a daughter who rides the bus to school, himself.
He promised a thorough investigation into the crash.
Chairman Hart says that typically investigative teams will spend 7-10 days at the crash scene.
Then they will continue the investigation in Washington.
It could take up to a year for the final report to be compiled.
But the agency can issue emergency orders at anytime during the investigation if warranted.
Chairman Hart says his team will look for a variety of possible sources to determine what happened on the bus.. a data recorder, video camera, or engine and brake chips.
The team will have more to say at a media briefing in Chattanooga later on Tuesday.
