Officers shoot suspect with a knife in Loudon
This is the same jurisdiction where a deputy was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver earlier this month
LOUDON, Tennessee (WDEF) – The TBI will investigate a fatal shooting involving officers with the Loudon City Police and county deputies on Thursday.
Their preliminary report found that officers were serving a warrant at a business for an employee.
They say when they approached the man, he pulled a knife and refused to drop it.
Witnesses say that tasers did not stop him, either.
Then the man ran out of the building and officers chased him.
They say he continued to wield the knife.
One of the officers shot him during the chase.
He was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
This is the second officer-involved shooting case in the region this week.
A suspect was fatally shot in Maryville earlier this week.
Loudon County is still mourning the loss of one of their officers earlier this month.
Sgt. Chris Jenkins was killed in a crash on I 75 who has been charged with DUI.
