One in custody after Shallowford Road standoff

Chattanooga police arrested a suspect after an attempted traffic stop that led to a standoff.

It happened at around 7 Wednesday night in the 5900 block of Shallowford Road.

Police say during the attempted stop, one person got out of the car and attempted to take control of it.

He was unsuccessful, but then shot at the officer and fled to a nearby creek bed.

Officers say he then stopped and put a gun to his head.

SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team responded and were able to get the man to surrender.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt.
