Police Chase Ends with Crash on Northshore
Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – A police chase ended with a crashed vehicle in front of the Walgreens in North Chattanooga at the corner of Market and Frazier.
Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher confirmed the incident started as a carjacking.
The chase began when multiple juvenile suspects reportedly carjacked a victim at gunpoint at the 5300 block of Central Ave. .
An alert was issues for a gold Chevrolet Malibu, and officers were notified of the incident.
A Chattanooga Police Department Motor Patrol Officer spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, at which time the suspects fled north on Market Street.
The suspects attempted a right turn from Market St onto Frazier Ave but were travelling too fast and lost control of their vehicle, striking a tree on the westbound sidewalk.
Five suspects fled on foot behind the Walgreens and were subdued by several officers and placed into police custody without further incident at 7:45 p.m.
Suspect 1 was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest, while the other four juvenile suspects were each charged with Evading Arrest and Criminal Conspiracy.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
