Police investigating two early morning shootings in Chattanooga
It happened just after 6 A.M. on Sunday at an apartment in East Lake Courts.
When WDEF arrived on scene, officers were collecting blood soaked clothing from the front porch of an apartment where the shooting took place.
According to one officer on scene, the gunshot victim told police he had been robbed.
The victim has been identified as Reginald McGruder. He suffered a single gunshot wound to the right ankle.
McGruder told investigators that the suspect took his wallet and $200 before shooting him.
McGruder’s injuries are considered non-life threatening.
According to police, the suspect is a black male in his min-20’s with shoulder length dreadlocks. The suspect reportedly used a revolver when he shot McGruder.
Chattanooga police are also investigating a shooting that happened just after midnight in the 1300 block of Bradt Street.
According to investigators, Michael Boone, 33, of Chattanooga arrived at a local hospital with a single gunshot to the back of his right leg. He told officers he was walking along Bradt Street when he was shot.
Boone’s injuries are considered to be non-life threatening.
WDEF did some fact checking and learned that Boone was arrested last month on multiple criminal charges that include the possession of illegal drugs and illegal possession of a firearm.
In 2006, Boone was convicted of cocaine possession with intent to resale.
