Police Officer Injured in Crash Responding to Bank Robbery

Chattanooga (WDEF) – A Chattanooga police officer was injured Tuesday morning in a wreck.

George Forbes was responding to a bank robbery on Gunbarrel Road at the Trust Federal Credit Union.

He was running through a traffic light into East Brainerd Road with his emergency lights on.

A truck yielded to the officer, but a Range Rover pulled around the truck and hit the police car in the intersection.

Police say officer Forbes lost consciousness after the collision, so he was taken to the hospital for observation.

The other driver was not hurt and was not cited for the crash.

The bank robbery suspect is still at large.
