Police Search for Man Involved in Domestic Shooting Incident

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Police are looking for 38-year-old James Winnie, after he allegedly shot a woman during a domestic dispute.

Police were called to a home on 6th Ave for a domestic disturbance involving James and his estranged wife, 27-year-old Jessica Winnie. Upon arrival, officers found Jessica suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to authorities, the suspect drove to the house and started a verbal disagreement with the victim and her brother. The argument escalated and James fired his gun. Jessica suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was later transported to an area hospital by HCEMS.

James left the scene before Chattanooga Police arrived, and warrants have now been obtained for his arrest. Those warrants include attempted first degree murder (domestic), possession of a firearm and felony reckless endangerment.
