Reality Star Leads Amendment 1 Rally in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – Joshua Duggar, tells News 12, "Abortion is one of the lowest regulated industries in the state of Tennessee and it made this state an abortion destination."

That’s a bold statement from Duggar, a reality TV star of 19 Kids and Counting.

He made a stop in Chattanooga Tuesday to rally behind Amendment One.

Voting yes for the so-called abortion amendment means you want to give state legislators power to regulate abortions.

Duggar adds, "If you’re pro-life, you want to vote yes on amendment one because it protects women and it’s going to raise those clinic standards and allow them to pass informed consent, which really is going to better this entire debate was we go forward."

Hamilton County leaders against Amendment One did not show up at this rally.

However, earlier this month commissioners Greg Beck and Warren Mackey made it known they do not support it.

Dozens of YouTube videos express opposition to Amendment 1, and thousands of other residents around the world signed a petition on change.org.

Lee Wysong, a supporter of Amendment 1 says, "It really made you feel like you’re really doing something when you get out there and publicly fight for what you believe."

Both groups will be fighting for what they believe is right up until the time polls close on November 4th.
