Red Wolves expand capacity for home game Saturday

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves will be under their brand new stadium lights for their home opener against Fort Lauderdale Saturday.

News 12’s Angela Moryan sat down with Coach Jimmy Obleda before tomorrow’s match.

Angie: “Saturday will be the first full capacity game in this stadium in like two years. How will that give you an advantage?”

Jimmy: “Having you know, 1,500-2,000 people in this stadium, yelling, screaming, pushing the team forward. I think if I’m not mistaken, every player has at least like five or six family members coming from all over the country. The globe. The fans give you a little extra in the moment when you need it., so we’re hoping. I’m really hoping the fans that come out and support us throughout the 95 minutes will encourage us and push us and yell at us and get us through that finish line for the win.”

Angie:”Looking ahead to Fort Lauderdale Saturday. They’ve already played six matches. The Red Wolves have played two strong matches, but just two. How much do you think you’re team is going to have to play up to the experience Fort Lauderdale already has?”

Jimmy:”It’s not easy. It’s definitely. I don’t want to say they have an advantage, but they have a bit of an advantage on us. It is what it is. We’ve got to. We’ve got to deal with what’s in front of us. We can’t go oh well excuses. That’s not going to help us at the end of the day. What we need to do is prepare for what we think they’re going to try to hurt us with and be better at what we’re going to hurt them with.”

Angie:”How will fans see the aggressive attack style from the Red Wolves this weekend?”

Jimmy:”Oof. I think the ones that came and saw us against Atlanta United II will see it you know what I mean. They’ll see it in our personality. They’ll see it in our relentlessness to get forward and try to win the ball. There’s going to be games we win. There’s going to be games we lose, but I never want someone to leave and go wow, we really. That team really didn’t inspire. Really didn’t try to do everything possible to get the result. That’s the last thing I ever want. That’s why the way we play and our attitude and the way we approach games is always to put the other team on their heels. To make our fans and everyone that supports us know like hey, we’re always going to fight. We’re always going to fight standing up, and we’re never going to give up no matter what.”

Angie:”What makes the Red Wolves a playoff bound team?”

Jimmy:”The depth and our ability to get points on the road and our ability to put different pieces and players in different places that can allow us to still be successful. I think that’s one. I think number two. All these guys are hungry. All these guys are driven. It’s one of the reasons we sign these players. They all want to make a mark. They want to do well for this club, and they’re appreciative of everything the club is doing for them and the city. So when you have that hunger. That drive to just say that we’re going to do it. We’re going to get there no matter how. If we have to crawl across the finish line. However we need to do it, we’re going to get there.”
