Relevant Hope: The Local Homeless Community Needs your Help

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – As temperatures continue to drop, two non-for-profit organizations are asking for help in guaranteeing no one finds themselves left out and in the cold this winter.

For years now Relevant Hope has partnered with Second Blessings Thrift Store to lend a helping hand to those who are homeless in the Chattanooga area. And Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. both organizations will set up at Gander Mountain in Hixson to collect items like flashlights, gloves, and sleeping bags to help our outdoor neighbors get through the harsh winter months.

"The person who has two shirts gives to the one who has none," said Dillon Burroughs, executive director of Relevant Hope, "For many of us we have abundance, and to buy another item in the store to give to someone in need is not a hard thing, but it can mean the world to someone who is without."

Other items being collected tomorrow include tents, lanterns, and any other camping type of supplies for those living outdoors. And for those who won’t be able to make it Saturday, donations are always welcomed year-round by clicking here.
