Rescue Efforts Underway at Pocket Wilderness

Around 5:45 pm Sunday, a 9-1-1 call was received from a 26 year-old woman with a possible leg fracture at the Green Hole on Mowbray Mountain.  The Green Hole is about one and a half miles from the entrance to the Mowbray Mountain Trail.

Mowbray Fire Department responded to the scene along with several other departments.

At approximately 7:30 Sunday, another call went out from the Mowbray VFD requesting even more manpower.

There is multiple creek crossings and rough terrain to get to the victim and Amy Maxwell, the spokesperson for the Hamilton County Emergency Services, said the rescue could take several hours.

The additional emergency departments that have responded are Seqouyah VFD, Sale Creek, Flat Top VFD, Lewis Chapel VFD, Dunlap Fire Department and the Hamilton County STARS.
