Ringgold Coach Wants Team to Use His Mother’s Advice Regarding ‘Streak Talk’ Against Heritage

Ringgold, GA-(WDEF) Ringgold and Heritage renew their high school football rivalry on Friday night.
The Tigers have never lost to their cross-town rival.
Ringgold has won all nine meetings, although they had to go to overtime to get the victory last year.
As far as the winning streak goes, Tigers head coach Robert Akins doesn’t want his guys talking it up, especially on social media.
He would prefer that his team take his mother’s advice.
Said Akins:”My mother would always say God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason. You should be quiet more. And I don’t like for our kids to be boastful or arrogant because we haven’t done anything. We’re 0-1 right now. We haven’t done anything. I know that last year Heritage was 8-4, and we were 5-5. So after our game, they got better, and we didn’t get better. That’s what we talk to the kids about is it is all about getting better for your region play.”
