Riverbend 2013 Preview
Riverbend 2013 is starting to take shape.
We have the sand and the surf boards, so we here at WDEF and Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union can build our signature sculptures and, of course, anchor desk.
Blake Strickland, President and CEO of the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, says, "It will look great. We did it last year for the first time. It was fun, so we decided to do it again this year."
If you come watch us live at that desk during our 6 and 7 pm broadcasts, we might pick you to win our nightly door prize.
Strickland adds, "We’re giving away a trip this year to Clearwater beach at the Marriott down there."
We can also make you a free family keepsake postcard at our Riverbend Beach.
And did I mention our partners have this air conditioned tiki hut?
Strickland adds, "Come in, get out of heat for awhile."
New headliners are also heating the stages, like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Dierks Bentley.
Dixie Fuller, with Friends of the Festival, says, "CeeLo is still coming, CeeLo has not been replaced."
A spoof website announced CeeLoo wasn’t coming to Riverbend, but that is just untrue.
Family friendly activities are also packed in down at the Riverfront, like zip lining.
Chip Baker, with Friends of the Festival, says, "Behind me is a T-28 World War II Trainer."
Now, if that’s a lot to take in, and you want to watch all this from the river, remember this year the Chickamauga Lock will be unstaffed from 3 a.m. until 7 a.m.
So, plan accordingly, and go out and make some memories.
Friends of the Festival is working on private funding to keep the lock open.
We’ll be live down at our Riverbend Beach starting Friday.
