Rock City turns 90

Lookout Mountain (WDEF)- Rock City celebrates turning 90 Saturday, this founders day celebration allows for a look back on history and a look ahead to the next 90 years.

On May 21st, 1932 Rock City became known as a public attraction, and Garnet and Frieda Carter welcomed in the community.

“We’re nearing a century and we’re very mindful of the fact that 10 years from now we’re going to be celebrating the big one. So this is sort of a reflective period We can look back on where we have been,” said senior manager of Innovation, Will Jackson.

Over the past 90 years, millions of people have seen the natural beauty and seen the trails, and the magical story

“90 years is a major milestone and it gives them a chance to look back,” said Jackson.

“We were able to kind of group everything at what the company’s legacy is and it’s our four cornerstones. Our sustainability and most importantly our people which is the bedrock of our business,” said President Doug Chapin.

Some projects for the future are ready to go, while others are still being worked on.

There are also plenty of ideas still in the planning stage

But they say it will continue to follow the vision statement of created by God, enhanced by man.
