Rock Spring Elementary Robotics Team Wins Award
They took home first prize for "Best Mechanical Design."
You may remember we profiled the team as they got ready for the first Lego-League Tournament held at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
The 4th and 5th grade students designed the robot.
It had special features like an arm that could grab, and front sensors.
The students also programmed their robot to throw a soccer ball into a net and deliver a speech about it.
Assistant Principal Melissa Lemons says, "It was very innovative. We had an arm that could do multiple things. It could push, pull lift. The judges really liked that part of it. It’s multi-purpose."
The team was sponsored by Lafayette’s Roper Plant.
