There is a run on eclipse glasses around town

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) One week before the solar eclipse, people are lining up to find glasses and finding the supply is no match for the demand.

Outdoor Chattanooga was planning to give away free eclipse glasses all week, but they are already gone.

This morning, crowds of people lined up outside Outdoor Chattanooga to get their free glasses.

They started handing them out and 9 AM.

There were 12 hundred glasses, but the supply ran ran out in just 20 minutes.

Lori Goerlich from Open Spaces told us “We were so impressed with the turnout. We are so excited that everyone is ready to see this eclipse. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of us and people are going to have a chance to view it safely. We couldn’t be more thrilled.”

The Chattanooga Library announced all branches will be giving out a limited number of glasses starting on Friday at 9 in the morning.

Supplies are running out in local stores, also.

You can still find them on Amazon, but you had better order fast to get them here on time.
