Salvation Army begins Angel Tree distribution, still needs bell-ringers

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) –  Thousands of needy children and seniors in the Tennessee Valley will soon be unwrapping a lot of presents.
It’s all thanks to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
        Tuesday was distribution day.
News 12 was there to take part.
Like a well-oiled sleigh, these volunteers are crossing off those on the nice list one by one.
This year, the list of those in need is more than 4,500 deep.
But community members were up to the challenge.
Each and every angel got adopted way before the deadline.
Volunteer Ruth Cote said, "A lot of people are out of work and a lot of homes, the children don’t have anything for Christmas, and a service organization like the Salvation Army is dependable and we’re going to make something for every child that comes to us for help."
The Salvation Army still needs volunteers to help ring bells this year.
