Salvation Army call for box fans!

The Salvation Army says they’re already receiving dozens of calls a day, requesting fans from families needing to stay cool.

The Director reports that they have already run out of fans.

‘Beat the Heat’ is a local program for low-income families to help them stay cool through the summer.

The non-profit organization is asking for donations on any type of new fans and cases of bottle water.

Marketing Director Kimberly George says, “we’ve not ever had to kick off the ‘Beat the Heat’ program in May. I don’t remember the last time we’ve seen record breaking temperatures in May either. We’ve had a lot of phone calls of folks who are trying to Beat the Heat, trying to stay cool in their homes.”
