Salvation Army’s Beat the Heat Campaign

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The weather is heating up in Chattanooga and the Salvation Army wants to make sure you’re prepared.

Officials kicked off the annual Beat the Heat Campaign Friday.

The Salvation Army needs donations for it.

More than 400 families required assistance paying their utility bills last month.

Grant Writer and Compliance Officer Gordon Hall says, "It’s time for our neighbors to help other neighbors beat the heat in Chattanooga those hot days of summer are here, and it is not just hot they are dangerous especially for our low income neighbors who have trouble making sure that their homes stay cool enough."

Residents in need of assistance can also apply for free fans on Fridays.

You can sign up at the Salvation Army’s Social Services office.
