Saturday High School Basketball Round-Up
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Big rivalries in big time postseason games around the Tennessee Valley as public school district semi-finals and private region championships headlined Saturday’s schedule.
First, Boyd Buchanan took down Notre Dame in a 48-46 barn-burner for the first region championship win for the Bucs since 2014. Jacob Shockley led the Bucs — and the game — with 12 points.

Up in Cleveland, the Blue Raider boys demolished Walker Valley in a stunning 73-30 win in the district semi-finals. Cleveland will host East Hamilton — who beat McMinn County 78-59 — Tuesday for the title game.
Just prior to the boys game, the Cleveland girls were upset by the McMinn County girls in overtime, 56-51. Blue Raiders leader Jamyrn Blair left the game with a presumed season-ending ankle injury in the third quarter. McMinn County will travel to Bradley Central Monday for the district championship. The Bearettes beat East Hamilton 75-33.
In Chattanooga, Tyner hosted Brainerd for a girls and boys district semi-final game. Brainerd girls upset Tyner with a 57-47 win, while the Brainerd boys fell to the Rams, 46-30.
Howard beat Red Bank on the other side of the boys bracket, 59-51. The Hustlin’ Tigers will travel to Tyner Tuesday for the championship.
In Georgia, the Coahulla Creek girls were on the wrong end of a 30-0 run in Sonoraville. The host team won the region championship 73-40.
Meanwhile, the Lafayette boys came back from a 14-point first half deficit to beat Sonoraville 58-48 and win the region championship for the second straight year.
