Search for armed robbery suspects locks down Whitwell school

WHITWELL, Tennessee (WDEF) – Whitwell schools will remain on lockdown Monday as long as local officers are searching for an armed robbery suspect in the area.

The search continues for the arrest for 42 year old Dewayne Halfacre and 52 year old Timothy “Timbo” Howell.

The men from Rutherford county are suspects in a Friday night robbery at a market store near Almaville.

Whitwell chief Mark Tillery told us “At about 3:30 this morning the Whitwell police department received a call of a suspicious vehicle at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral home.”

“When our officers arrived, they began investigating the suspicious vehicle at which time the vehicle took flight.”

“Our officers pursued the vehicle across highway 28 where it was involved in an accident after it drove through several cow pastures and fields, and both the driver and then the passenger fled on foot.”

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has joined Whitwell Police and Marion County Sheriff’s Officers in the search. .
