Second mountain coaster shut down following accident

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tenn. Department of Labor and Workforce Development has shut down a second mountain coaster in Sevier County after the company didn’t notify the state of an injury sustained by a rider.

That’s according to a report from our sister station in Knoxville, WVLT.

On July 11, the department’s Workplace Regulations and Compliance Division – Amusement Device Unit received a report of the accident at The Coaster at Goats on the Roof on Wears Valley Road in Pigeon Forge.

Officials then ordered the company to cease and desist operation until remedial action steps were satisfied.

State officials say the accident happened on Sunday, July 3.

The accident report submitted by the company’s owner indicated that a rider lost control and put an arm outside the coaster, suffering a broken arm and requiring treatment at a local hospital.
