Senator Corker awarded Freedom House Leadership Award
WASHINGTON D.C. (WDEF) – Chattanoogan Bob Corker received a major award tonight in Washington.
The Tennessee Senator and former Vice President Joe Biden accepted the 2018 Leadership Awards from the Freedom House.
“Foreign policy should touch people’s lives directly. That’s why America’s support for human rights and human dignity around the world matters.”
In accepting the award he asked the audience to give Department of State employees a round of applause for supporting the mission of Freedom House.
“I happen to appreciate the work the State Department does”.
Tonight’s ceremony took place at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C.
He was presented the award by actor Richard Gere.
Senator Corker is wrapping up his career in the Senate this year.
