On Thursday, the case was resolved. All charges were dismissed, except the vandalism/malicious mischief one.
“I was satisfied. I think there was questionable behavior all around, but the officer was very kind hearted and willing to let the most serious charges go. He just wanted his glasses and watch fixed which was an easy decision to make on my clients part,” said McCracken Poston, Floyd’s lawyer.
Poston says his client was ordered to pay the officer. In total, Floyd paid $1,200 in restitution.
“Obviously, he was facing very serious charges and it got resolved in a manner that was good for all parties,” Poston said.
He says everyone took away lessons from the incident.
“All parties on Station Street learned something that night it was not an ideal situation for the public or the police,” Poston said.
Floyd was placed on probation for a year.
“We just appreciate the officer for I think agreeing to a good outcome that was satisfactory to all sides,” Poston said.
One condition is that Floyd’s charge could eventually be dismissed for good behavior.
