Shaw Industries upgrading Decatur plant, creating more jobs
DECATUR, Tennessee (WDEF) – Shaw Industries is creating new jobs in Meigs County with an upgrade to their plant in Decatur.
The company plans to invest $42 million into their yarn facility there.
It will create 75 new jobs.
The Dalton based flooring company is already the biggest employer in Meigs County.
The plant supplies yarn for Shaw’s carpet manufacturing.
The upgrade will allow them to make both nylon and polyester fiber yarn.
Shaw’s Chairman and CEO Vance Bell says “The upgrades to this facility are indicative of our commitment to advanced manufacturing and enhancing our operations as we rapidly respond to shifts in the market and customer preferences.”
Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe says “As the largest employer in Meigs County, Shaw plays a pivotal role in the economic well-being of the area and its residents.”
