Sheriff urges Coffee Co. parents to keep kids off social media during threats

MANCHESTER, Tennessee (WDEF) The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating threats to area students on social media.

In the meantime, they are asking parents to keep their teens off of their phones and devices.

The threats involve kidnapping, physical abuse and sexual taunts.

They have come over text messages, email, social media and gaming sites.

Someone is posing as a male teenager, making the threats, to students at various schools.

But the Sheriff suspects the poster isn’t really from the area and may even be overseas.

If you see any questionable activity on your child’s devices, contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.
