Signal Mountain Eagles Hope to Soar This Fall

Signal Mountain, TN-(WDEF) Signal Mountain coaches and players believe there could be a lot of good days this season.

Said head coach Bill Price,"Well you know, these kids have played a lot of football. A lot of them are three year starters. We are concerned with our depth right now, but the kids are really working hard."
Said lineman Harrison Moon,"I think this year we have as good a shot at winning state as any other. We have a great team. Lot of experience on this team."
Besides experience, the Eagles have size, anchored by 6’6 280-pound lineman Harrison Moon.
Said Moon,"Well this is probably the biggest offensive and defensive line that we have ever had. Probably one of our stronger teams."
Signal Mountain will also be big in the backfield.
Said Price,"We’ve got five kids that are running the ball right now. William Franklin is a kid we moved to fullback. He played offensive tackle last year and defensive tackle, so he’s pretty good size."
Said Moon,"He’s (Franklin) probably 6’1 probably 240 or 250. He can fly. He’s really fast."
The Eagles want to take advantage of their size and knock heads if you will, which Moon’s helmet seems indicate.
Said Moon,"We just had a play date this past Friday up at Pope John Paul. We just physically. We were bigger, and we were in shape whipping them."
Playoff heartache has haunted Signal Mountain the last two years.
They’ve lost each of their last two playoff games by one point.
Said Price,"We lost last year in double overtime by one. The year before we lost in overtime by one. You can’t go back in the past. We look forward. It’s a new year."
Added Moon,"Those were two very tough losses and everything, and so I think it just makes us. Just shows us what we need to work on this year. I think this year special teams is a bigger part of it this year. We are focusing more on that."
