Signal Mountain Moves Forward with City School District Idea

Signal Mountain (WDEF)  Signal Mountain takes another step forward in its exploration of forming a city school system.

The town council voted last night to form a seven person viability committee.

The move comes after an ad hoc group suggested a city school district would be financially sound without raising property taxes.

Once formed, the viability committee will look at whether students would benefit from breaking away from the Hamilton County Department of Education. The process is expected to take several months.
