Soddy Daisy Police Make Arrest in Casey Burgiss Missing Person Case

Soddy Daisy Police believe they’ve solved a missing person’s case with the discovery of a body last night.

Authorities found the remains while searching a rocky, remote area off Layne Road.  19-year old Keith Stewart now stands accused of criminal homicide in the death of Casey Burgiss.  The 25-year old had been missing since July and had been the subject of several missing persons reports on News 12.

Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phil Hamrick says "we have information that he died of a gunshot but the body will still have to go through forensic center for a determination for the cause of death and identification.  We haven’t positively identified the body yet."

Chief Hamrick says its appears Burgiss’ death was also drug related.  His department spent over 400-man hours trying to find out what happened to Burgiss.
