Southside Community Park held BBQ Cook-off
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A new park in Chattanooga kicks off labor day weekend with a good old Barbecue Ribs Cook-off.
Several people came out to enjoy the first annual cook off event.
There was food, music and speakers.
The cook off is actually the first community event to be held at the Southside Community Park.
Terry McCullough, who helped host the event, says the ribbon was just cut on the new park last week.
He says the space means a lot to the community.
“It means that you can come out and enjoy. It’s got a beautiful landscaping here. You got a nice big opening. It’s got a quarter mile walking track that goes around the center of the park. It has a nice pavilion inside where it’s got restrooms. It’s got handicapped accessible and whatnot. It’s a beautiful place and it’s what the community has been waiting for. That’s what they wanted and we’re here to celebrate it,” McCullough says.
Trophies were handed out to the best barbecue winners.
