Speaking Series to Bring Music Industry to Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Hip-Hop Summit is starting a series of lectures designed for those interested in entering the music industry.
Starting next Thursday, March 9, artists, managers and other industry experts will give a series of presentations in their Music and Business Speaker Series.
The first speaker in this series will be Kadeem Phillips, who manages numerous artists through his label Powerhouse Management.
The aim of the series is to help make a Chattanooga a thriving market for the up and coming artists.
A co-founder for the Chattanooga Hip-Hop Summit, Micah Chapman, said, “We decided to bring hip-hop lovers together so that they can learn more about hip hop and celebrate hip-hop together, and we’ve noticed that a lot of artists had perfected their skill sets, perfected their talent, perfected their craft, but they didn’t really know how to crack into the music business so that’s what we want to provide for them. A route to learn how to maneuver into the music business with the talent and the skillset that they have.”
The first Chattanooga Hip-Hop Summit was held last October with a series of events across the city.
The events are held in conjunction with SoundCorps, a local nonprofit working to increase our region’s music economy.
The programs will be held at the R.I.S.E Creative Community Hub on Taylor Street.
It is a free event.
