“Stockings Full of Love” remains Catoosa Christmas tradition for 30 years

RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) – “Stockings Full of Love” has been a Christmas tradition in Catoosa county for 30 years.

The toy store was opened today.

Sheriff Gary Sisk was at Battlefield elementary school with his volunteers early this morning to finish organizing the annual toy drive.

Parents came by to pick up the gifts donated by Catoosa County residents.

Employees at Ringgold Telephone company created food baskets which will also go to local families.

Sheriff Sisk believes it was a community effort.

He said, “We have volunteers. We have a number of volunteers that come to us every year when this is going on. We’ve got people that bring their kids over here. My children have been doing it since they could walk. They get a lot out of it as well. It helps them understand the true meaning of the season, and that it’s really better to give than to receive.”

Sheriff Sisk says he’s just continuing a tradition that began in 1987 in Catoosa County.
