Suns Prevent Lookouts From Clinching Division Title With Huge 7th Inning

The Jacksonville Suns (29-36) scored eight runs in the seventh inning to secure an 8-4 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (39-25).

In the second inning the Lookouts started the scoring early when Adam Brett Walker II knocked in Max Kepler who led off the inning with a triple.  The next batter Mike Gonzales doubled to right field to put runners on second and third with no outs.  After a strikeout, Stuart Turner grounded out to bring home the team’s second run of the inning.

The team expanded their lead to three in the fifth inning on a Kepler RBI single.  With a three run lead, starting pitcher Brett Lee rolled along through the Suns order.  Prior to the seventh inning, Lee had allowed no runs on four hits. In the seventh inning Lee allowed two singles before getting pulled in favor of relief pitcher Nick Burdi.

With only one out the Suns took advantage of the early singles and compiled three more hits before Matt Juengel capped off the inning with a grand slam.

Tennessee was also a winner on Wednesday, so Chattanooga’s magic number to clinch the division title remains at one game.
